Understand query performance using Explain
The Query Analysis view of the Playboard's Explain tool helps analyze the query performance for the last seven days in terms of total number of queries, number of queries per session, CRT, Findability, and other insightful KPIs related to shoppers' interactions with queries and products on the search engine results page (SERP).
Getting started with Query Analysis
You land in the Query Analysis view after launching a query in the search bar (or selecting a top query bubble) from the Explain main screen. Consider that the information in the Query Analysis tab refers to the last seven days, as indicated in the top left corner.
The Query Analysis view contains two sections to display metrics related to the analyzed query and data about the search result products:
Search Metrics
In this section, insightful query metrics are displayed through three different charts to make data more accessible, understandable, and joyful. Select each of the tabs to display the different charts:
The totals for the following metrics are displayed on the right of the tab selector; they're always visible regardless of the tab selected: Queries, Clicks, Findability, Checkouts, No Results, and Add2carts.
Evolution Over Time
The X/Y lineal Evolution Over Time chart shows the volume or percentage of the following KPIs related to the query being analyzed:
- Queries: number of times the query has been performed. It's only displayed when the Show percentage toggle is not selected.
- Clicks: number of clicks made on the products listed on the SERP.
- Success clicks: number of clicks made on the products listed on the first results page.
- Checkouts: number of products listed on the SERP that have finally been purchased.
- No Results: number of times the query has returned no results.
- Add2carts: number of products listed on the SERP that have been added to the cart.
Select the Show percentage toggle to change the data display from volume to percentage. Click the metric names in the legend to remove or add them to the chart.
Funnel
The funnel chart provides insights into search performance by displaying key metrics related to queries, sessions, and queries per session. The following KPIs are included:
- No Clicks: percentage of times the query returned results but did not lead to any clicks based on the number of times the query was performed.
- CTR: percentage of times the query led to clicks on products based on the number of times the query was performed.
- Findability: percentage of times the query led to clicks on products on the first page of the SERP based on the number of times the query was performed.
- Checkout: percentage of times the query resulted in one or several products being purchased based on the number of times the query was performed.
- No Results: percentage of times the query returned no results based on the number of times the query was performed.
- Add2cart: percentage of times the query led to a product being added to the cart based on the number of times the query was performed.
Query Distribution
The Query Distribution chart displays information about metrics such as the number of queries, clicks, success clicks, checkouts, no results, and add2carts across the different segments configured for your instance, such as language, device type, or store. Each segment has its own tab, so you can explore and analyze how the query performed within each segment separately. Select one of the metrics to see how the query performed for the segment chosen.
Search Data
This section shows the top 10 products related to the analyzed query, ranked in descending order. For each product, the following KPIs are provided:
- Clicks: number of times a product has been clicked.
- Add2carts: number of times a product has been added to the cart.
- Checkouts: number of times a product has been checked out.
When hovering over the bars for each product under the KPI selector, the chart displays the percentage that the product's volume represents to the total number of queries.
