Customize Related Prompts on the SERP

Related Prompts creates a more human-like interaction to offer an intuitive, conversational search experience to shoppers in your commerce store. Generated by AI-powered technologies, these prompts presented like questions that rephrase shoppers searches capture their intent for more precise and relevant catalog discovery experience.

For example, if they look for "cheese", this initial query is processed to better understand its context. Then, a prompt rephrases the shoppers' intent asking something like Do you want to prepare a cheese platter?, Do you like goat cheeses?, or Are you looking for vegan cheese options?. When the shopper clicks one of these prompts, the query is narrowed down, displaying more accurate results, as only the products related to the prompt clicked are listed.

Don't you know exactly what related prompts are and how they're generated? See Related Prompts overview.

The Related Prompts management tool lets you control the display of both synthetically-generated and curated related prompts. You can choose to show or hide synthetic prompts and turn on or off the curated ones.

note

Consider that the Related Prompts management tool is undergoing continuous improvements. Although curating related prompts is supported by Empathy Platform, it's only done on demand. Contact your Key Account Manager for further details.

You access the Related Prompts management tool through the Play section on the Playboard. From the landing page, you can either preview the related prompts triggered by a specific query (default option) or check the available configurations for curated prompts.

Always visible on the landing page, three prompt analytic metrics provide insightful data on the activity over the past seven days: Queries with Related Prompts, Clicks gained, and Add-to-cart gained. Hover over each metric icon to see the explanation. These metrics serve as a shortcut that links directly to the Insights' Prompt Metrics feature.

To preview the related prompts for a specific query, refine your configuration using the Filters pane. Then, type the desired query in the search box and press Enter.

To check the Related Prompts configuration list instead, click the Overview button.

List view of Related Prompts

The Related Prompts configuration list displays only curated related prompts; you can check the synthetically-generated prompts directly in your production environment or by clicking the Preview button.

The configuration list shows the following information:

  • Related Prompt: The curated prompt configured for the search experience to match your business needs.

Curation of related prompts is not currently supported for no-code setups in the Playboard. To add curated prompts to your search experience, please contact your Key Account Manager.

  • ID: Identifier of the related prompt configuration.
  • Language: Language set up for the configuration.
  • Next Queries: Suggested queries triggered by the related prompt. These queries are displayed in carousels after clicking the associated prompt.
  • Status: Status of the related prompt. Turn the toggle on to activate the related prompt and show it in your search experience.

Navigate to the landing page using the breadcrumbs and click the Preview button to check how the related prompt configurations would perform in your commerce store.

In the Preview window, on the left, you can view the main related prompt metrics (A) collected over the past seven days: Queries with Related Prompts, Clicks gained, and Add-to-cart gained. Hover over each metric icon to display a tooltip with the metric explanation. Click the metrics button to be redirected to the Insights' Prompt Metrics feature.

You can also check which prompts have been synthetically generated (B) and the behavior of the curated ones, both of which are linked to the query you entered. You can modify the entered query and the filters (A) at any time; the related prompts (B) and search results displayed in the preview (C) update automatically.

Each related prompt tag has a toggle on the left to turn it on or off (show or hide it). An icon identifies the curated prompts so you can distinguish them from the synthetic ones. Curated prompts are displayed first, before any synthetic prompts. Slide from left to right to see all related prompts triggered by the entered query.

As there is a maximum number of related prompts that can be shown in your commerce store—configurable via the Related Prompts section of the Instance Management—, deactivated synthetically-generated related prompts shadowed in gray are displayed on the right. When you turn off an active related prompt, a deactivated one from the right automatically activates if the total number of active related prompts doesn't match the configuration for your instance. The total number of related prompts set to be shown may sometimes not be matched if not enough related prompts have been synthetically generated.

When you hide a synthetic prompt, it automatically becomes curated and is then listed in the Related Prompts configuration list. If you later reactivate this originally synthetic prompt (now curated) to display it again in the search experience, it remains curated anyway, as you've already managed it.

You can test the generated related prompts with any query. Type a query in the search box and adjust the filters as needed (A) to update both the prompt data in the related prompts list (B) and the product carousels in the preview pane (C). Navigate to the landing page using the breadcrumbs and select the Overview button to access the Related Prompts configuration list at any time.
